Singapore – [November 9, 2025] – Lion Befrienders Service Association (Lion Befrienders) today announced the launch of its innovative AI-powered voice agent, a cutting-edge technological solution developed in partnership with Seasalt.ai. This new feature is set to revolutionize how Lion Befrienders supports its beneficiaries, allowing staff to significantly increase outreach and focus their expertise on delivering high-quality, meaningful care.

The move addresses two critical needs within the social service sector: combating staff manpower burnout and ensuring regular, consistent contact with vulnerable seniors.

How the Technology Works to Enhance Care

The AI voice agent automates routine communication, allowing Lion Befrienders staff to make more calls in a day. The system has been customized with local lingo and a natural, empathetic tone to ensure a comfortable and familiar experience for the seniors.

  • Increased Interactions: The automation significantly increases the number of seniors who can be reached daily, boosting overall interaction and reducing social isolation.

  • Prioritizing Urgent Needs: A critical safety feature is the system’s ability to tier situations using a “traffic light” concept. Any “red light” situation—indicating an urgent or unforeseen problem—is immediately escalated, prompting Lion Befrienders staff to provide swift, human-led intervention.

  • Empowering Staff: By taking on administrative and high-volume tasks, the AI saves man-hours. Staff can then use this time for necessary follow-up administration or, more importantly, to focus on cases requiring more intensive, quality support. This improved workflow is vital in reducing staff workload and burnout.

A Collaborative and Tested Approach

The development of this feature has been a close-knit collaboration between Lion Befrienders staff, Seasalt.ai’s SeaVoice system, and the seniors themselves since 2023. Phase 1 testing yielded highly encouraging results, with strong acceptance from the seniors.
